My Thoughts Are Rolling, I’m High

So smoked a few bowls, keif on some, I’m pretty high and then I went on Facebook. There were some new notifications I wanted to check out. So I checked them out and went to my news feed and I scrolled trough and checked up what was new. Keep in mind this is only a few posts I look at. Then I see a picture of a girl who has Down syndrome an is holding a sign that says: “please don’t use the word retarded” and my brain went AWOL and then I just had this thought and it’s how I think of the word retard/retarded. I believe that retard/retarded is used today as slang, and the majority of it is used among teenagers, and young adults. As being a teenager i used the word sometimes. Never did I think, in my own opinion did I ever use it in the way that would signify a “rude” term standing for human(s) with a mental disability. Now yes I get that awhile ago retard was used as the word to bully kids and make them feel dumb. That is all I really see the word as. It’s “dumb”. Now in no way is this related to any person(s) with a mental disability. I believe myself, because I know many people with disabilities like such, and I have never seen more intelligent and bright human beings. I’m sure there is hate and reasonings against that but I, in no way, personally see the word retard/dumb associated with anyone with a mental disability. Whenever I use the term, I use it as dumb/dumbo/dummy all depending on the situation. Not once had I ever used the word with intentions of meaning Dowm syndrome. I understand that there are some very truly evil and hurtful people out there that use it with such intentions. But I dot believe we all should be shamed and tortured for using that word In our own way. It’s being creative! An it’s just like when you have a nickname for maybe a doll or a friend or something inhuman. It’s still the same exact thing but your individual concept is different. That is why feelings get hurt when someone doesn’t know another person is joking around they have a different concept of things then you do, one person might think making fun of someone’s outfit is funny (based on reactions from people in the past most likely being good and laughing along) the person getting made fun of might think of it as a rude comment or a dropping hint that she should change her wardrobe, she could then feel bullied and scared as the other person just believes she doesn’t mind and she is laughing along. That’s just how I feel about it. The same goes for the slang word “gay” and such. I don’t know am I wrong about this entirely or do I make a good point?
